November Niagara

Fantastic Voyagers

Mr. Mike Tamburo is throwing a festival, and you’re all invited. Two big days, over twenty performers. I’m really psyched for this one, and for a beautiful drive from Philly to PBurgh, with the air having that perfect amount of late October crispness. Leave it to Mike to curate a festival solely of solo performers, and he’s put together a rad line up. Many cats here that I’ve heard about, but have yet to see live. Thanks Mike!

518 Foreland Ave. (North Side) Pittsburgh, PA

Kaleidoscopic Eyes

Niagara Falls Live from Mark Schoneveld on Vimeo.
Oh damn! Another new Niagara vid, posted by our man Mark. This one’s from the recent show at Johnny Brenda’s, here in Philly. Peep Erich working the beginning stages of what will be our Voltron-esqe, trash-picked Gamelan, as well as a few of Sam’s new handcrafted fun trick noisemakers. Thanks Mark.

ALSO…

For a few months now, Noah (of Niagara Falls & The Molecules) and Ashley have been hosting one of the most vibed out nights in the city of Kensington. They call their scene The Kaleidoscopic Eye (check the sweet flyer from a previous night by Bob Howsare above), and they throw down every other Tuesday at the previously sleepy LOST BAR OF ATLANTIS on the corner of Frankford and Haggert, in previously blood drenched Kensington, Philly. Tomorrow, July 31st, I’ll be joining them for a night of jams of the Kraut variety, in addition to their rad blend of “the finest selection of 60’s international psych, garage, freakbeat, Italiano beat, and Tropicalia in the city of PHILADELPHIA.” Stop by and say, “Vibe”.

Stone Valley and More Sidebar Action

We’re getting so psyched for the Catalpa Lodge Music Festival. This jam is a Deep Water Acres production, and promises to be a very vibed out event taking place in the ridges and valleys outside of State College in raw Central Pennsylvania. Check out the full line up and more info on making reservations here.
Niagara Falls will be in full effect, and I’ll be debuting solo as Enumclaw.

Deep Water Acres is an online music/life zine run by some very rad dudes. In addition to the zine, DW is also a cdr label that in only a few short years has released some deep searching sounds, including the last record by Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls Plays Spiral Isles, which is available in our Distro Shoppe.

From that DW release, the track, “Acid of Ants” is included in our new Honeymoon Player which you’ll find in the sidebar to your right. I’ve been searching right mp3 player for awhile, and have settled on this one. It does the basics without being too preachy or gaudy. I’ve been thinking of making up band specific players for each of the band pages, instead of having all the tracks together in one player, but I also like being able to scroll through all of the tracks together. What do you guys think, one biggie player, or separate ones?

One may also now browse through the Honeymoon Flickr Page with our new easily clickable Flickr Badge, also conveniently located in the sidebar to the right. The ‘77 VW bus in the pics may or may not be for sale, make me an offer. Yow!

Mi Compound, Su Compound

Please join us for another magick evening in the garden. The Bearded Irises have finished blooming, but if you look closely, you may find the Red Hot Pokers just beginning to bloom. Sounds provided by:

Noa Bell (fresh from recording at Philly’s Hexam Head Studios)
Fern Knight (fresh from European Tour)
Greg Weeks (superfresh Head of Hexam)
Han Soom (crescent fresh)

We’ve Got to Get Ourselves Back to the Garden

This Friday, May 18th at 8pm, please join us in the garden for the first show of the season. Bring something to smoke, drink, share and dig the sounds. Standard donation here babies, you really don’t want to have Jack Rose shake you down. Believe me.

Witness the jew harp incantations of Lungfish frontman, Daniel Higgs.
Break open your head to the drones of Bardo Pond side project Alumbrados,
the acoustic minimalism of Philly’s Little Ocean,
and the folkish rock of Brooklyn’s Begushkin.

2033 Frankford Ave. enter around the back at 2032 Sepviva St.
